A session that examines current issues and challenges surrounding the integration and use of chain hoists and winches in the event industry. There are many thousands of hoists in use in the EU of which the owner or user complete the manufacture/integration of the machinery by fitting the chain, electrical connectors and control systems. This places the duties squarely on the shoulders of the person who completes the system either as part of an installation, temporary or permanent, or as a rental package. Even when a hoist system is completely supplied the user inherits from the manufacturer all responsibility related to the machinery’s indented use.

Presented by Cristiano Giavedoni, the session will also update the audience concerning the CEN TC433/WG1, and works to publish a European standard for lifting and load bearing equipment for stages and other production areas within the entertainment industry.
