The following summary is a news extract made by Blumano via BSI.

Starting from 1st January 2023, the CE Marking “will no longer be accepted on most new products placed on the market in Great Britain and UKCA will be required”.

BSI is hosting an on-demand webinar replay of their “UKCA Webinar: Securing market access in Great Britain” via their website. In order to watch the replay, participants need to sign up via BSI’s website. The webinar will cover what’s expected of the manufacturer, how to comply and the “next steps to sustaining…market access”.

According to BSI, the UKCA marking will not be recognised in the EU market and products that require a CE marking “will still need a CE marking to be sold in the EU”.

The UCKA mark came into force on 1 January 2021 and has been recognised in Great Britain alongside the CE marking since then. However, this will finish by the end of 2022 and the CE marking will no longer be accepted.

For products “placed on the market in EU27 countries” the CE marking will continue to be used.

In regard to the UKCA mark, BSI states, “most products that are currently covered under regulations and directives for CE marking will fall under the scope of UKCA marking”. They also say that “the steps” businesses need to take “to prepare for UKCA marking will depend on [their] current status” and “future market access requirements”.
