The course at a glance

The Electric Chain Hoist classroom is designed to provide stage machinery designers, system integrators, and operators with an in-depth understanding of intended use, compliance frameworks, the similarities and differences, and the requirements/allowances that are related to electric chain hoists used in the event industry to keep suspended loads without people being in the hazard zone.

During the course, you will learn the differences between hoists that are in compliance with EN 17206 (UC1 and UC2), or with EN 14492-2 (annex E) or SQ:P2 (D8 Plus).

This course explores the relevant engineering requirements for each hoist category from safety factors in load-bearing lines to group mechanisms, direct acting capacity limiters and load monitoring devices.
By the end of the course, you’ll have a solid understanding of the entire compliance framework, fields of application, jurisdictions, compared intended use and hierarchy.

Structure Description

• The course consists of 5 lessons that take place in 1 day.
• The duration of each lesson is 1 hr max.
• All lessons are online based.
• At the end of the day there will be a Q&A session.

Requirements

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion, students will be able to:

• Demonstrate a solid understanding of the engineering requirements related to each type of chain hoist considered in the course
• Understand the similarities and differences, and which one prevails depending on the country the machinery is installed in
• Draft the user’s integration instructions
• Structure and document upgrades or downgrades
• Define testing procedures for protective measures
• Analyse and judge if the public documentation received by the manufacturer is consistent with the chain hoist’s intended use
