Singer Marisa Monte’s show that was scheduled to take place on Saturday night in Niterói was canceled due to bad weather. The stage where the artist was to perform collapsed. “Adverse and atypical weather conditions, including very strong winds and a lightning storm, caused the collapse of the structure of the stage set up on Icaraí Beach”, informed the city hall.
The event was scheduled to start at 9pm on Saturday, at Praia de Icaraí. The decision aimed to guarantee the safety of the public and artists, said the city hall.
At the first sign of strong winds, the evacuation plan was put into practice and there were no longer any people in the area when the structure gave way, according to the city hall.
There were no injuries. The new date of the event has not been announced.
