In July 2022, a tragic accident occurred during a concert by Hong Kong boy band MIRROR at the Hong Kong Coliseum. A giant screen suspended mid-air suddenly fell, striking two dancers and leaving one, Li Kai-yin (known as Ah Mo), with severe spinal injuries. Among the companies involved in the incident, HIP HING LOONG STAGE ENGINEERING COMPANY LIMITED faced a winding-up petition filed in February this year by a stage equipment supplier. On 23rd April, the case was heard before a High Court master, where the stage equipment supplier requested to withdraw the petition. The court approved the withdrawal and ordered HIP HING LOONG to pay HK$20,000 in legal costs to the petitioner.

The petitioner filed the liquidation petition earlier this year but revealed during the hearing that HIP HING LOONG had already settled the outstanding amount. This development led to the dismissal of the case.

Following the 2022 concert accident, the Labour Department issued summonses against three companies: HIP HING LOONG STAGE ENGINEERING COMPANY LIMITED, Engineering Impact Limited, and Studiodanz Company Limited. A total of 15 charges were laid for failing to ensure employee safety and health. HIP HING LOONG faced six charges, including two for failing to ensure worker safety, two for failing to secure safe working conditions for equipment, one for failing to notify the Occupational Safety Officer within 24 hours of the serious accident, and one for failing to issue an accident notice. The company pleaded guilty to all charges and was fined HK$420,000.

Engineering Impact Limited and Studiodanz Company Limited, which were also implicated, admitted their respective charges and were fined HK$220,000 and HK$132,000, respectively.
