A CHILD has been injured after falling from a theme park ride.
A children’s «ride on car» detached from a ride mid-operation and it fell «several metres» with a five-year-old girl inside on Saturday.
The horror incident unfolded the Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza festival in North Wales.
Chris Williams, Director of the Llandudno Community Events CIC, said the incident happened at 10:15am.
He told The Sun: “At 10.15am on 3/5/25 an incident involving a juvenile helicopter funfair ride and two children took place at the Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza, with one requiring treatment in hospital.
«A initial investigation of the ride was conducted and the health and safety executive visited the Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza following the incident and permitted the operator of the ride to continue operating.
«However out of respect for the family we instructed the operator to close the ride for the remainder of the event. An initial internal investigation by the ride operator concluded a human error had caused the incident.
«The Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza organisers are in contact with the parents of the children and have been informed that the child in hospital is in a stable condition. The parents have said “that it could have been a lot worse.”
«We wish the family a speedy recovery from the incident and are here to support them in any way we can.”
North Wales Police told The Sun: «Patrol officers at this weekend’s Extravaganza event in Llandudno attended an incident in which a five-year-old girl sustained injuries whilst riding on a fairground attraction.
«The girl’s family sought medical attention for her at a nearby first aid station, and the ride was shut down for the remainder of the Extravaganza.
«Officers have informed Health and Safety Executive officials, who are now leading the investigation into the circumstances of the incident.»
A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called on Saturday (03 May) at approximately 10:20am, to reports of an incident on Mostyn Street, Llandudno.
“We sent one emergency ambulance to the scene.
“One patient was conveyed to hospital for further treatment.»
